Mer and Tap Electric forge strategic roaming partnership to elevate driver experience

[London, 31 October] – Mer, a leading European electric vehicle (EV) charging company, announces its latest roaming partnership with Tap Electric, an Amsterdam-based startup focused on improving driver experience.

The collaboration enables seamless access for Tap Electric drivers to charge on Mer’s high-quality AC and DC charge points across a range of locations in the UK.

Tap’s driver app is known for a sophisticated yet simple-to-use feature set helping drivers find chargers that are available, reliable, and affordable. Features like predicted availability, availability alerts, real-time cost calculation, and in-app messaging between drivers have proven very popular on Tap’s existing public network. With this partnership, the company’s full feature set is uniformly available across Mer’s entire network.

Mer, backed by Statkraft, Europe’s largest renewable energy generator, delivers complete EV charging solutions to businesses, fleets, commercial landlords and local authorities, helping power the shift to purer transportation across the UK. It recently announced a partnership with Knight Frank Investment Management aiming to install approximately 450 sockets across the company’s UK-wide portfolio, with a mixture of rapid and ultra-rapid charge points available for public use.

Alex Hinchcliffe, Director of Public Charging at Mer UK, said, “At Mer, we are committed to creating a seamless charging experience for EV drivers. Our partnership with Tap Electric is a testament to Mer’s commitment to ensuring accessibility and convenience on our EV charging network.”

Tap Electric’s CEO, Nico Spoelstra, echoed Alex Hinchcliffe’s sentiments, emphasizing the shared vision between the two companies. He stated, “We are excited to join forces with Mer to enhance the driver experience in the UK. Roaming deals have been historically quite difficult to get done in this region, so we commend the team at Mer not just for its enthusiasm to partner with innovative companies like Tap Electric, but also for the quality of the network it is deploying.”

Both companies are known for their innovation and commitment to advancing sustainable transportation solutions. By combining their strengths, Mer and Tap Electric aim to accelerate the transition to electric mobility while providing an outstanding experience for their customers.
