After years of working in the EV charging software space, we started Tap in late 2020 as a response to what we saw in the early days of this transition to electric vehicles: charging can still be really complicated for drivers.
This issue is so important in the context of the energy transition. If we want to use cars to strengthen the next gen electrical grid, drivers need to have a simple experience and a way to be informed about when their vehicle is or should be charging.
Problems around availability, reliability and price transparency of chargers need to be solved. We got straight to work and the first app version was launched in the spring of 2021.
Three years later, and Tap is now one of the best driver apps in the world.
We’ve also since built a popular charger management system that lets you connect your chargers from work or home — for free.
We have a bustling office in the heart of Amsterdam and have customers throughout Europe and the UK. We have a sign on the wall that says “Driver First”, and we start every design discussion with the question “Is this good for the driver?”
Our mission is to make it easy and affordable for everyone to drive electric, in every country on this planet. We believe electric vehicles are the key to sustainable energy for all.
