What is the EV Chargepoint Grant for Renters, Flat Owners, and On-Street Parking Households?
Introduced in April 2022, this grant provides direct support for individuals who rent their home, own a flat, or own a house with on-street parking to install an eligible EV chargepoint. It replaces the previous Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme.

With this grant, you can get:
- 75% off the cost to buy and install a socket, up to a maximum of £350.
Am I eligible for this grant?
To be able to get this grant, you must apply for a voucher using the online form:
- You must own an EV or have one on order.
- Your property must be in the UK.
- You must have dedicated off-street parking at your property.
- For renters/flat owners: You must either own and live in a flat, or rent any residential property (including properties under shared ownership schemes).
- For on-street parking households: You must own or rent the property you live in, rely on on-street parking, and install a cross-pavement charging solution (e.g., a cable channel). You cannot have private off-street parking.
- The installation must be carried out by an OZEV-authorised installer.

Yes, this grant is currently ongoing, with funding confirmed until March 31, 2026.

How much can landlords get from the EV Chargepoint Grant?
With the EV Chargepoint grant, you can get grants up to £30,000 per property:
- 75% off the cost to buy and install a socket (up to a maximum of £350 per socket).
- Each financial year, you can get up to 200 grants for residential properties and 100 grants for commercial properties.
2. Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Grant for Landlords
What does the EV Infrastructure Grant for landlords cover?
The EV infrastructure grant helps cover the cost of wider building and installation work needed to install multiple chargepoint sockets, including those you plan to install now and in the future.
Examples of things that the EV infrastructure grant covers include:
- Wiring upgrades
- Charging posts
- Ducting and trenching for cables
How much funding is available through the EV Infrastructure Grant for Landlords?
With the EV infrastructure grant, you can get:
- 75% off the cost of the work (up to a maximum of £30,000).
- You can also get up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed as part of the infrastructure project.
- And up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure.
What are the eligibility conditions for the Landlord EV Grants?
This grant is for landlords of residential and commercial properties, including local authorities that own social housing. Landlords can apply for up to 30 infrastructure grants each financial year. - The WCS is available to businesses, charities, public sector organisations, and certain small accommodation businesses across the UK.
- There’s a specific branch of the WCS for state-funded schools and education institutions.
- Applicants must either own the property or have permission from the landlord to install EV charge points. The site must have dedicated off-street parking for employees or fleet vehicles.
How much funding does the WCS provide?
For Businesses, Charities, and General Public Sector Organisations the grant covers:
- 75% of the total installation costs, up to a maximum of £350 per socket, with a limit of 40 sockets across all sites per applicant.
For State-Funded Education Institutions:
- Grants of up to 75% of the cost to buy and install chargepoints, up to a maximum of £2,500 per socket, are available, for up to 40 sockets across all sites.
What are the key conditions for the WCS?
- You must provide evidence that the parking is for staff or fleet use and located on-site or within a reasonable distance from the workplace.
- If your business is at a residential property (e.g., home office), you can still apply, but the site must be listed as your business address with Companies House or on your business rate bill.
- Employers can install chargers at employees’ homes for company vehicles, subject to specific requirements.
- If you make the chargers available to the public, you must comply with the Public Chargepoint Regulations 2023.
- All installations must be carried out by an OZEV-authorised installer, who will apply for the voucher on your behalf.

2. EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets
What is the EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets?
This grant helps small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) with the building and installation work needed to support multiple chargepoint sockets, such as wiring and charging posts, for their staff and fleet vehicles.
How much funding is available through this grant?
With this grant, you can get:
- 75% of the cost of the work paid for (up to a maximum of £15,000).
- You can also get up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed as part of the infrastructure project.
- And up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure.
You can receive up to 5 grants across 5 different sites.
What are the eligibility conditions for the EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets?
- This grant is specifically for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) with 249 employees or fewer.
- You can apply for up to five grants across five different sites.
- The site must have dedicated off-street parking for staff or fleet vehicles.
- All installations must be carried out by an OZEV-authorised installer, who will apply for the voucher on your behalf.

Are there EV grants for local authorities?
Yes, the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund is primarily available to Tier 1 local authorities in the UK, such as county councils, unitary authorities, and combined authorities. It’s currently only open to existing applicants.
What is the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Scheme?
