With Map Intel, drivers can now analyse chargers on any street, neighbourhood, city or even country with a single tap. The analysis shows average cost, number of chargers and their charging speed, and charger networks in an area. Given the big differences in charger prices that can be found even on a single street, this level of transparency is much needed by drivers using public charging.
“For drivers, it’s really about knowing which charger networks give them the best value. With Map Intel, we’re giving them that wherever they go.” says Nico Spoelstra, Co-Founder of Tap Electric.
Municipalities play a key role in negotiating this value with charger networks during the tender process. Spoelstra adds, “In Amsterdam, drivers benefit from some of the lowest public charger prices in the country; on average they pay €0.30 per kWh for their energy on on-street chargers. We also see regions where drivers aren’t so lucky, and Map Intel helps identify where local governments have work to do.”
Since 2020, Amsterdam based start-up Tap Electric has been helping drivers stay informed about their charging. Their previously released Price Intel feature provides detailed information on charger pricing and tools to find the cheapest charge, even for complex prices.
