How much does it cost to charge at Fastned?
At Fastned, you can charge your EV in multiple ways — using the Fastned app, a Fastned GoCard (RFID), a contactless debit or credit card, or a third-party charging app or charge card like Tap Electric. Each method comes with its own pricing model: contactless payments follow Fastned’s standard public rate, while using apps or cards may include extra transaction fees depending on your subscription.
This segment outlines how pricing works at Fastned and how both Fastned and Tap offer subscription options to help you manage your charging costs. With a breakdown of the rates, discounts, and network access included in each, you’ll have a clearer view of which setup best suits your charging needs.
Is fast charging more expensive?
Generally, yes — fast charging costs more than slower AC charging. That’s because the hardware, grid connection, and maintenance for ultra-rapid chargers are more expensive to install and operate. These costs are usually passed on to the driver.
Fastned builds and maintains fast-charging stations with high uptime, solar canopies, and highway access — and their prices reflect that investment.
How do Fastned’s subscriptions work?
Fastned offers two main pricing options:
- Pay-as-you-go (PAYG): You pay their standard published rates per kWh without a subscription fee.
- Gold Member subscription: For a monthly fee (€11.99), you get 30% off Fastned’s standard rates — ideal for frequent highway chargers who want to save on every session.
Both options give you access to Fastned’s fast-charging network across Europe, with no long-term commitment required.
How do Tap’s subscriptions work?
Tap passes on the network’s charger prices to you + transaction fee. With our top plan you don’t pay any transaction fees; without it you do.
This gives you the flexibility to switch your plan as your charging habits change.
- PAYG: No monthly fee, pay per session with a 10% transaction fee. Good for one-off charging since you can charge without signing up.
- Tap Light: No monthly fee, reduced 5% transaction fee per session, plus a Tapkey for easy access.
- Tap Roamer: €2.50/month, no transaction fees, plus a Tapkey. Best for frequent chargers.
- Tap Family: €4.00/month, no transaction fees, includes two Tapkeys — ideal for households with multiple EVs or drivers.
All plans give access to thousands of chargers across Europe, including Fastned stations.
